Biografía
Léo Caillard, a leading figure in the European sculptural scene, explores the connections between the past and present through human evolution and the concept of time. Fascinated by history, he offers a contemporary perspective inspired by archaeology, anthropology, and digital technologies.
TEXTE
Graduating from Gobelins in 2008, he studied art history and specialized in photography, 3D, and new media. He gained recognition in 2012 with his series “Hipsters in Stone”, where he dresses iconic classical statues from the Louvre in modern clothing, creating a dialogue between Antiquity and modernity.
TEXTE
In 2017, he transitioned to marble sculpture, blending digital culture with traditional craftsmanship. His works, disrupting our visual references, incorporate contemporary accessories and digital distortions.
TEXTE
Continuing this fusion of art and technology, he also delved into NFTs, questioning memory, identity, and dematerialization. Caillard identifies with an “ultra-contemporary” artistic movement, which he calls a neo-Renaissance, rooted in classical cultures but aiming to rethink the future.
TEXTE
His creations have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Louvre, Fondation Cartier, LACMA, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, alongside artists like Yves Klein, Damien Hirst, and Marc Quinn.
