Erwann Tirilly draws inspiration for his images from religious iconography, psychoanalysis and the medical world.
He uses elements derived from sacred art, combined with other symbols, to create hybrid icons of tension and ambiguity.
The evolution of his paintings is not linear, but like rhizomes, a network of scenes that reveal a more global story, an obscure language.
His allegorical images are like playing cards. His paintings are modular, and depending on the order in which they are hung, suggest a different narrative each time.
