José Luis Ceña Ruiz is a Spanish painter born in 1982 in Málaga. At the age of 15, he moved to Madrid, where he earned a Fine Arts degree in 2005 from the Complutense University, specializing in visual arts. In 2001, he received a scholarship from the Real Casa de la Moneda, allowing him to deepen his studies in engraving and graphic design—disciplines that he integrates into his artistic approach to enrich the texture and structure of his works.

His often fragmented compositions suggest unfinished narratives, blurred memories, or suspended moments. He explores recurring themes such as memory, childhood, identity, and the passage of time, frequently depicting youthful figures in poetic and melancholic settings.
